Forgot or lost your medication while visiting Florida?

Theme-park trips, cruises, winters in Florida and family visits are when medication gets left at home. If you are physically in Florida, you can request a $39 physician review to continue an established, non-controlled medication, with the prescription sent to a pharmacy near where you're staying.

Check eligibility — $39 review

Short answer: Yes, if you are physically in Florida during the visit. Visitors, snowbirds and cruise passengers can request a $39 telehealth review to continue an established, non-controlled medication, and if it's appropriate, the prescription goes to a pharmacy near where you're staying. Start before your cruise ship leaves Florida.

Common situations

On vacation in Orlando or Tampa

Choose a pharmacy near your hotel or rental and check its hours. Many have drive-throughs. Do the review early in your trip rather than the night before you fly home.

Before a cruise

Start the review while you are still on land in Florida, before boarding at PortMiami, Port Everglades, Port Canaveral or Tampa. We can't treat you once the ship has left Florida, and pharmacy pickup needs time.

Seasonal residents (snowbirds)

If you spend winters in Florida, keep a list of your medications and doses and a photo of each label. Ask your home doctor about a longer supply before you travel; we can help when that isn't possible.

Visiting from another country

Brand names differ by country. Bring the original packaging or prescription. If appropriate, the physician can prescribe a U.S.-available equivalent. Without U.S. insurance, ask the pharmacy for the cash price.

Important limits

  • You must be physically in Florida at the time of the visit. Florida care is telehealth only; we have no Florida office.
  • No controlled substances, including ADHD medications, benzodiazepines, opioids and sleep medicines such as zolpidem.
  • New symptoms, an injury or anything that needs an exam: go to a local urgent care. For emergencies, call 911.
  • If you're ill on vacation, Florida's heat matters: some medicines, such as diuretics, need extra care with dehydration. Ask your pharmacist.
