Choosing the right care
Refill by telehealth, urgent care or the ER? Choosing in Florida
MedRefill Florida does one thing: physician review of refills for medicines you already take. Here's where everything else belongs.
Short answer: Use a telehealth refill review when you need to continue an established, non-controlled medicine and feel otherwise well. Go to urgent care for new symptoms, minor injuries or infections that need an exam. Call 911 or go to the ER for chest pain, stroke signs, trouble breathing, severe bleeding, heat stroke, confusion or a serious allergic reaction.
A telehealth refill review fits when
- You need to continue a medicine you already take, at the same dose
- You feel well, or your condition is stable
- Your prescriber is unavailable, or you're away from home in Florida
Go to urgent care for
- New symptoms such as fever, cough, ear pain, a rash or urinary burning
- Minor injuries, sprains and cuts that may need stitches
- Anything that needs an exam, a test or an X-ray today
Call 911 or go to the ER for
- Chest pain or pressure, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw or back
- Stroke signs: face drooping, arm weakness, speech trouble (BE FAST)
- Severe trouble breathing, or blue or gray lips
- Heat stroke: confusion with a very high temperature
- Severe bleeding, a serious injury or fainting
- Swelling of the face, lips or throat; a severe allergic reaction
- Very high or very low blood sugar with confusion

Common questions
Can you treat new symptoms like a sinus infection or UTI?
No. MedRefill Florida is for refills of established medicines. For new symptoms, use urgent care, your primary clinician or another telehealth service that evaluates acute illness.
My blood pressure is very high and I'm out of medicine. Should I request a refill?
If you have chest pain, a severe headache, confusion, weakness or trouble speaking, call 911. If you feel well, request a refill and include your readings, and recheck soon.
Is telehealth cheaper than urgent care?
For a straightforward refill, often yes: our review is $39. But price shouldn't decide when symptoms need an exam.
