How decisions are made

Why a refill request might not be approved

Most refill requests for stable, established medicines are straightforward. When one isn't, the physician explains why and what to do instead.

Short answer: A refill request may not be approved when the medicine is controlled, when safe continuation needs an exam or labs that are overdue, when new symptoms need in-person care, when you're not physically in Florida, or when the medicine can't be verified. The $39 covers the review, so text before paying if you're unsure whether your situation fits.

The most common reasons

  • The medicine is a controlled substance. We don't prescribe any
  • Labs or readings needed for safe monitoring are long overdue
  • New or worsening symptoms need an exam, testing or urgent care
  • You're not physically in Florida at the time of the visit
  • We can't confirm what you take or at what dose
  • The request is really a new medicine or a dose change, not a refill
  • Pregnancy or another condition makes the medicine unsafe without in-person care
  • The product is compounded or not FDA-approved

What happens next

You'll get a clear explanation and a recommended next step, such as getting labs, seeing your regular clinician, going to urgent care or calling 911. Sometimes a short supply is appropriate while you arrange that.

About the $39

The fee covers the physician's clinical review, so it generally isn't refunded once the review has started, even if a prescription isn't issued. It is refunded if you cancel before the review begins (refund policy). If you're unsure whether your medicine qualifies, text 469-951-0477 before paying.

Common questions

Do I get my $39 back if the refill isn't approved?

Generally no once the review has started, because the fee pays for the clinical evaluation. It's refunded if you cancel before the review begins.

Can I ask the physician to reconsider?

Yes. If you can provide the missing information, such as a recent lab result or the exact label, the physician will review it.

How do I avoid a declined request?

Check the medication list, have your label and recent readings ready, and text us first if anything is unusual.
