About Wegovy
Wegovy is semaglutide, a once-weekly injection approved, together with diet and physical activity, for chronic weight management in adults and children 12 and older with obesity, or adults with overweight and a weight-related condition. It's also approved to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight. It contains the same medicine as Ozempic, at different doses.

- Your starting weight, current weight and progress
- Nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain or signs of gallbladder trouble
- History of pancreatitis
- Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2
- Pregnancy plans
- Mood changes or thoughts of self-harm
- Diabetes medicines, especially insulin or sulfonylureas
Safety points
- Gallstones are more common with rapid weight loss. Pain in the upper right belly, fever or yellowing of the skin needs prompt care.
- Severe stomach pain that may spread to the back can be pancreatitis.
- Wegovy isn't used with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2, and the label advises stopping at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
- Tell the physician about any new depression or thoughts of self-harm. In a crisis, call or text 988.
